This is one of my favorite pictures of Meryl Streep. I didn’t always love her. Her earlier work seemed more technical to me and didn’t really, dunno, move me, but now? Forget it. I love her joy, her easy happiness, which has made her become a mini-Dalai Lama in her presence. She curses like a banshee in every interview and talks about how lucky she feels because a lot of her friends are dead or sick, and she’s still alive, and dude, I really think that shows in her performing. When I see pictures of her, I can see that she’s not aging, because she is so freaking happy.
